I have been going through some material lately to brush up on my apologetics, especially on the evedince for the life , deity and resurection of Jesus Christ. A couple of them are the "Mt. Moriah" video by Bob Enyart and "More than a Carpenter" by Josh McDowell. I plan on going through this with my family as well.
Early on in my Christian walk I thought apologetics was useless. Proverbs tells us that "he who says there is no God is a fool" and also elsewhere says not to argue with a fool. So in my mind why try to argue God with a fool. Although I still find some validity in that idea I realize that although God has given every individual an inate understanding of god there is still a need to prove that Jesus Christ was God and that God is the god of the Holy Bible and not Allah or Buddah.
Knowing the evidence for Jesus Christ should not be just for "apologizers" trying to convince an unbeliever. It should be the basis for the belief of every Christian.
If someone asks you questions like:
- Why do you believe in God?
- Why do you believe Jesus was the son of God?
- Why do you believe that Jesus rose from the dead?
. . . your answer should be more than . . ."because I have faith".
Christianity is not based on faith (gasp!). Christianity is based on truth.
We believe in God and Jesus because we have evidence that what they say and who they are is true.
If you don't know the evidence for Jesus Christ make it a goal to find out. Here are some good resourced to get you started.

Yes, tillyjam
When witnessing I don't try to prove Jesus or God. I try to focus on them and their sins and crimes against God. If I can get them to humble themselves and see their need for salvation, I open the Bible and show them the wonderful "good news".
