Youth Ministry is killing the church!

I don't know if the Barna Group purposely sets out to show the ineffectiveness of youth groups or if the raw data is so revealing that they can't help but see the truth that no one else sees.

It seems that teenagers heavily involved in youth groups go to college and stop praying, reading the Bible, going to church and even believing in Jesus Christ. Twentysomethings are the most godless age group out there.

But with all the youth ministry going on why is this so? Because youth ministry is a farce. A shame. A fake.

I am sure some kids go on for the Lord after their teenage youth group years, but the stats are really sickening. I mean I am a product of youth ministry and I am still going for Jesus, but I can write a list as long as my arm of kids I know that are now, sodomites, lovers of evil, sexually immoral, drunkards, and just plain God haters.

Maybe they didn't have the right discipleship model?
Maybe the weight of the world was just too much for them?

Maybe they were just a shallow pair of empty Reeboks that found Jesus but never really needed Him to save their soul from an eternity of hell.

Churches need to give up on kids.
(What!! How could you say that. We can't give up on the children.)

I just said it. Give up on the youth. Give up on the teens. Give up on the children.

Stop high-fiving the Jr. High boys, just give them a good firm hand-shake and make them look you square in the eye. Tell them to call you Sir not dude or man. Tell them to pull up there pants and iron their shirts.

Lets take the energy we put towards youth and put it towards parents, moms and dads. That is the way it used to be, that is the model we see in God's word, that's the way it used to be when kids grew up with a love for Jesus Christ.

Nothing can compare to the youth ministry a father gives to his son. Nothing. Show me a soldier for Christ that walks with his son and I will show you a young man that will defend the honor of God above all else and that weeps when a heart is converted.

Give up on the youth.
